Ben Kruger and Stefan Ludick at Ben Kruger’s potjie challenge “So Good” Potjiekos in aid of Rhino Buddies! This was during the Inni Bos Music Festival 2013.

1. 4 Mense per span / 4 Persons per team .
2. Alle voorbereiding (sny van groente, marinering van vleis, ens) moet op die
terrein gedoen word. /All preparations (cutting of vegetables, marinating of
meat, etc.) must be done on the terrain.
3. ‘n Lys van bestandele en die resepmetode moet beskikbaar wees vir die
beoordelaars se inspeksie. / A list of ingredients as well as recipe must be
there for the judges to inspect.
4. Deelnemers moet hulle eie #3 of #4 potte en bestandele voorsien. /
Participants must provide their own #3 or #4 pots.
5. Deelnemers moet verkieslik gas gebruik en indien u vuur gebruik moet bo
op beskerm vir gras gemaak word. Geen vure op grond. / Participants
should preferably make use of gas as heat source and should you prefer to
make a fire it must be done in such a manner that the lawn is not damaged
in any way what so ever. No open fires on the ground.
6. Elke span is verantwoordelik vir die opslaan van hulle eie kamp. (Sambrele,
gazebo’s, baniere, stoel ens) Die groote van elke kamp sal 4x3meter wees.
/ Each team is responsible for the erecting of own camp as well as supply of
umbrellas, gazebo’s banners chairs, tables and cutlery!
7. Beoordeelaars se besluit is finaal en bindend. / Judges decision will be final
and binding.
8. Deelnemers kan vanaf 08h00 hulle voorbereiding begin doen. / Participants
can commence preparations from 08h00.
9. Beoordeling sal 13h00 gedoen word / Judging the pots will commence at
13h00.
Deelnemers sal beoordeel word volgens die volgende beginsels: / Participants will be judged on the following:
1. Algemene voorkoms van die span en hulle kamp. / General appearance of team and their camp.
2. Aanbieding van die finale produk – m.a.w. Is daar wyn saam met die pot, hoe is die kos uitgetal op die bord, is daar eetgerei, ens. Elke span moet twee borde voorsit vir die beoordeelaars om te proe. / Final presentation of product – in other words are there complimenting wine served with meal, how is it dished up and presented with cutlery. Two judges will sit down for a setting.
3. Tegniek: Is die pot in lae gepak? Is die bestandele vars? Is die bestandele op die terrein voorberei? Toestand van die pot? Beheer van die hitte. / Technique: is the pot layered? Are the ingredients fresh? Is everything prepared on the terrain? State of the pot and heat control?
4. Resep: Is dit uniek of tradisioneel? Is dit beproef? Wat is die bykosse? Met watter drank word dit voorgesit? (Hier is geen voorskrifte nie – indien die span voel rooibostee is die beste maat vir hulle pot is dit reg. Dit hoef nie wyn te wees nie). / Recipe: Is it unique or traditional? Is it proven? What are the side dishes? With Which liquor is it presented? (Should the team think that Rooibos tea would best compliment their meal it is fine, no need for any wine) .
5. Aanbieding: Pas die tafel by die algemene voorkoms van die kamp? Is die pot betyds klaar? Hoe word die kos op die bord uitgestal? / Presentation: Does the table setting fit in with the theme of the camp? Is the pot presentable at the prescribed time? How is the food presented on the plate?
Pryse word as volg toegeken / Prices are awarded as follows:
1. 1 ste Plek R1200.00 en wissel trofee / 1st Place R 1200.00 and exchange trophee
2. 2de Plek R800.00 / 2nd Place R 800.00
3. 3de Plek R 400.00 / 3rd Place R 400.00
4. Beste Spangees Sertifikate / Best Team Spirit Certificates
5. Many surprise prizes as well! Weekend away etc!
